Get Involved with the Alumni Association
The Alumni Association offers many unique programs to connect our alumni with their classmates, their college and current students. List below are some of the exciting programs that we offer. To receive more information or sign up for these events or programs, contact the Alumni Office at 706.729.2061 or alumni@gru.edu.
HOST Program
The HOST Program is a unique arrangement that establishes relationships between students and regional alumni, by matching alumni volunteers willing to open their homes to students traveling during residency interviews.
Alumni participating in the HOST program can become role models and a resource for questions. In addition, the program helps reduce medical students' expenses related to traveling and helps students to become more acquainted with the city / medical community in which they may serve their residency.

Regional Receptions
The Alumni Association is pleased to provide an avenue for alumni and their colleagues to network and socialize with one another in their local area. At regional receptions throughout the year, alumni and friends of the college are invited to mix and mingle with MCG administration and Alumni Association board members. Attendees also learn about the current state of the college and vision for the future, and may ask the dean questions about activities going on at the college and university.

Mentorship
Medical school can be a very difficult time in a student’s life. The Alumni Association works to connect students with alumni who can act as mentors and offer assistance with career and educational choices. Throughout the year, there are many events and opportunities which give alumni the opportunity to connect with current medical students, such as open forums where alumni share their experiences from medical school and residency and what they wish they’d known then.
Dinner with 12 Strangers
Dinner with 12 Strangers provides a unique opportunity for students to network with alumni around the dinner table. Throughout the year, alumni volunteers invite students and faculty over for dinner, providing everyone with an entertaining evening of food and discussion. This is a great opportunity to meet the future physicians of the Medical College of Georgia and learn from fellow alumni.
Scholarships
Engaging students is one of the most important facets of the Alumni Association, and student scholarships are a large part of this engagement. Each year the Alumni Association gives thousands of dollars’ in scholarships to deserving medical students. Your support as an Alumni Association member can help us increase the number of scholarships we award annually.
Homecoming
In the spring of each year, alumni and friends from across the country gather to celebrate their alma mater and see old friends during Homecoming festivities. From the Dean’s Reception and the President’s Cookout, to Class Reunions and the Homecoming Dance, the Alumni Association is proud to offer many free and family-friendly events during this weekend, giving alumni and their families the chance to see what has happened at the university since they have left. We hope to see you at this year’s Homecoming.
