Student Programs
Your relationship with the Alumni Association doesn’t start after you graduate. It starts now! The Alumni Association provides many programs and events for students throughout the school year to help put you in contact with one of your most valuable resources, our alumni. Our programs give you the opportunity to meet and network with alumni from all different specialties, providing you with a resource for the future. Contact the alumni office at 706-721-3430 or alumni@georgiahealth.edu for more information or to sign up for any of these programs.
HOST Program
The HOST Program provides fourth-year medical students with a place to stay during residency interview visits, helping reduce students’ travel expenses. This program connects students with alumni who live in the area where they are interviewing for residency. These alumni allow the students to stay in their homes during the interview process and help them to become better acquainted with the city/medical community in which they may complete their residency.

Scholarships
Engaging students is one of the most important facets of the Alumni Association, and student scholarships are a large part of this engagement. Every year, the Alumni Association gives out scholarships based on service, academics and involvement to deserving students. Scholarships continue to be a vital part of the Alumni Association’s mission to help its future members, the students.
Homecoming
Each spring, alumni from across the country gather to celebrate their alma mater and see old friends during Homecoming, and you’re invited too! Students from all colleges take this opportunity to network and connect with alumni from various professions and different areas across the United States.

Raft Debate
Raft Debate is a favorite spring event for medical students. In this fictional scenario, three doctors are on a sinking ship with a life raft only large enough for one of them. Faculty members representing different specialties are joined by the “Devil’s Advocate,” who represents the basic sciences, who conduct a spirited debate of the merits each specialty in order to win the raft and survive. The winning faculty member is voted on by students, and then all parties are invited to celebrate with a reception after the debate.

Freshman Brunch
The Alumni Association is proud to host the annual Freshman Brunch for incoming first year medical students at the beginning of their journey through medical school. Students are welcomed to the university by the Alumni Association during their first day of orientation and are given the opportunity to meet the Dean, the Alumni Association President and other notable leaders.

Dinner with 12 Strangers
Dinner with 12 Strangers provides a unique opportunity for students to network with alumni in Augusta and in other cities. Throughout the year, alumni volunteers invite students and faculty over for dinner, providing everyone with an entertaining evening of food and discussion.
